Waiting on the Lord

Abraham, after he had patiently endured, he obtained the promise. (Heb. 6:15)

WaitingThe Bible story about the life of Abraham has an important lesson for us today. Our culture is a want it NOW, but that's not the way God usually operates in our lives. His ways are higher than our ways, we must learn patience and obedience through our lives to receive His promises.

Abraham was tried for many years, but he was richly rewarded because of his Faith. The Lord allowed many trials to come in his life and delayed fulfilling many of His promises until the very last minute.

Satan tried him by temptation; Unbelieving men tried him with persecution, opposition, jealousy and distrust; His wife, Sarah tried him by her peevishness and unbelief.

But he patiently endured. He did not question God’s goodness, His veracity, nor limit His power, nor doubt His faithfulness, nor grieve His love;

But he bowed his heart to Divine Sovereignty, submitted to Infinite Wisdom, and was silent under delays and hardship. He continued waiting for the Lord's timing in his life.

And so, having patiently endured, he obtained the promise.

God’s promise cannot fail to accomplish it's purposed destiny. Patient waiters cannot be disappointed. Believing expectation shall be realized.

Abraham’s conduct condemns an unbelieving hasty spirit, reproves a murmuring one, but commends a patient one, and encourages quiet submission to God's will and purpose. Remember, Abraham was tried; he patiently waited; he received the promise, and was satisfied. My prayer is that we can imitate his example and be assured, we will share the same blessing.

Call upon the name of Jesus today for His strength to be patient and endure through challenging times. I pray you are encouraged and strengthened by this article.
